The castle is a is a restored six storey tower house. Part of the original defensive wall remains.
History Ardamullivan Castle was built in the 16th century by the O'Shaughnessy family. In 1579, Dermot O'Shaughnessy and his nephew John, fought each other in a dispute over the castle. The fight resulted in the death of both men. The castle fell into ruin and was restored in the last century.
