Description Ferrycarrig castle is situated on the north bank of the river Slaney near Ferrycarrig.
The castle is a ruined fifteenth century square tower house that was originally built to guard the ferry and the river traffic. Not far from the castle is a round tower that was built on the other (southern) side of the river in 1858 as a war memorial to commemorate the men of Wexford who died in the Crimean War.
History Ferrycarrig castle was built in the fifteenth century by the Roach family.
